Last night, the Boston Bruins won their sixth Stanley Cup, by defeating the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 in game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Amidst the celebration from fans of the original six team, the people of Vancouver demonstrated their feelings in a completely different fashion. While riots broke out across the beautiful town, cops flooded in to find some type of order among the chaos. Scattered within the mess, was Rich Lam.
Lam, a photojournalist, who was lucky enough to catch what has quickly become one of the more recognizable photos of the last several years.
This picture above, has been circulating the interwebs like wildfire. What is sure to be a multiple award winning photo, is simply beautiful. When someone can capture so much, in one single still image, they are doing something that most can only dream to do.
The lighting is perfect. The focus is spot on. You can sense what is going on around the city; but you can also understand that there is more than that. There is peace at times (wherever those Bruins fans are at least).
This photo is going to live on. Lam captured a moment that will become an instant classic. This image is not going to go away. And for whoever the man and woman are… they will be forever immortalized like this - just as George Mendonça and Edith Shain have been in the iconic Eisenstaedt V-J Day photograph.
An incredibly beautiful photo. To only be lucky enough to have captured the moment.

Sharks injured? Wow…

Seeing the injury list for the Sharks that came out a bit ago, it’s crazy that they played has hard as they did.

Jumbo- Separated shoulder, tip of pinky detached from finger
Heater- Broken hand for late regular season/playoffs, bad twisted ankle in gm 3
Cooch- Broken nose from gm 3
Demers- High ankle sprain in gm7 vs DET
Clowe- Needed help putting his own sweater on (assuming something with collarbone)

EDIT FROM OFFICIAL RELEASE

Jason Demers - high ankle sprain
Scott Nichol - laceration above the knee
Dany Heatley - broken hand, high ankle injury
Ryane Clowe - shoulder separation
Dan Boyle - damaged MCL
Logan Couture - broken nose
Joe Pavelski - ankle injury
Joe Thornton - broken pinkie, wrist problem, shoulder separation

And that’s just the few the Brodie Brazil reported. The fight these guys gave, with those injuries… That’s damn impressive. Hats off fellas. We’re proud of you, Sharks.

And people actually argue that these aren’t the toughest athletes out there. Lebron James whined about playing with a cold. Man up athletes, do this right.
