Song of the Day: Naked As We Came by Iron and Wine
Sam Beam has created some incredible music over the last ten years. Since we were first graced with The Creek Drank the Cradle in 2002, he has released several more albums, each better than the next (arguably).
Throughout the track listings on all of these studio albums and live albums, compilations and EP’s, he has put out some of the more genuinely beautiful songs we’ve heard in recent time. Songs such as “The Trapeze Swinger,” “Boy with a Coin,” “Walking Far From Home,” and most notably an incredibly gorgeous rendition of The Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights.”
Among all of these ear pleasing tracks, is one that has always stood well above the rest in my eyes, or… ears? Naked As We Came is a remarkably beautiful song. Originally off of Beam’s sophomore album, Our Endless Numbered Days, this song is one of the best in his library. And, has always been one of my favorite songs in general.
This version, live but all the better, comes off of the Morning Becomes Eclectic live album. If you’ve never heard it- sit back, speakers up, and enjoy. If you know the song… You’re welcome!
